Follow-up visit on 03.06.2024 to express solidarity with the Christian community at Kotly Malian

After the Christian cemetery land was identified in Kotli Millian, the local Christians were scared and were not even rebuilding their graves. On 03.06.2024 I went to Kotli Millian early in the morning for a follow-up visit to the Christian Cemetery along with Rev. Father Yousaf, a Roman Catholic priest, The visit was to show solidarity with the Christian people there. Our visit encouraged the local Christians, we urged them to clear the cemetery of weeds. Local Christians rebuilt graves on plowed land. Later, Rev. Fr. Yousaf prayed for their ancestors.

The outrage among local Christians at the desecration of the bones of their forefathers is justified. They have settled there since ancient times and after the creation of Pakistan, they are less in number than the surrounding Muslim population. We believe that sustainable and permanent fraternal relations among Muslim-Christians are vital for coexistence. Mostly, we accept collective benefits to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
