A Meeting In Connection With The Promotion Of Interfaith And Religious Harmony

Another condemnation meeting of representatives of the Christian
community was held at The Rock Church in Francisabad on the 6 th day
of July at 3 pm. Mr. Shahzad Lawrence chaired this meeting.
Participants from different walks of life including Catechists and elders
of St. Francis of Assis Parish Francisabad, Pastors of several branches of
protestant Churches, and social and political activists participated in this
condemnation meeting.

In his opening words, Shahzad Lawrence president of the Education,
Peace and Development Society & member of the District Peace
Committee emphasized unity among Christians living in Gujranwala.
We are striving for the promotion of harmony and peace through
dialogue in Pakistan and we respect every religion. The blasphemy act
took place in Sweden and now Christians in Pakistan are receiving
threats on social media.
We strongly condemn these steps which violate the respect of holy
books and religions because these unfair actions disturb the speed of
interfaith dialogue.
We wish to establish a brotherhood relationship among the followers of
religions and to achieve this goal we have to promote the idea of respect
for other religions. Therefore, we believe that it is imperative to promote
respect for religions and their common pedagogy through the process of
dialogue to ensure interfaith unity and peace in the multi-faith societies
of the world, especially the Third World.
For this reason, it is the moral duty of every peacemaker to come
forward regardless of the boundaries of religion to play a vital role to
establish peace in this world.

The participants shared their thoughts during a meeting and emphasized
religious harmony and they strongly condemned the incident of the
burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden.

Outcome

The condemnation statements in Newspapers and condemnation rallies
against the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden by the Christian
community of Gujranwala proved to be very effective and the chances of
better relations with the Christians living around them have increased in
the hearts of the Muslim community.

was welcomed by the Muslim community on a large scale. The press
coverage, photos, video messages, banners, and activity reports were
